Keep Your Dogs From Barkin': How To Treat Your Feet

If you have been suffering from pain in your feet and/or ankles, then you want to take some extra steps to ensure you are removing some of the stress you put them through each day. If you work in a job that has you on your feet a lot, then the chances are even greater that you will go home each night with your feet aching. The information provided below will give you some good ideas on things you can do to help your feet to feel much better, both at the end of a long day and on a regular basis.

Wear shoes that match your profession

Certain professions call for certain types of shoes. It's best for you to stick with the shoes dictated by your profession so you know that you are putting your feet into shoes that will support them the way they should be during your shift. For example, nurses should wear nursing shoes that provide them with extra cushion for those long shifts of standing, and kitchen workers should wear slip resistant shoes with steel toes so they are protected from ankle injuries on wet floors and hurt toes from dropping heavy pots on their feet.

Rest your feet whenever possible

Even if you have a job that has you on your feet all day, you want to take every opportunity possible to give them some rest. This can really help to decrease the soreness you may experience at the end of your shift. You should take each break to sit down in a comfortable chair and prop your feet up on a foot rest of some kind. This helps to relieve the stress that's been building up from all that time on them.

Use ice for relief in the evening

You can sit in a comfortable chair in the evening and use ice to relax your feet while you catch your favorite show. You can use a traditional ice pack on the bottoms of your feet, sew a bunch of rice in a sock and keep it in your freezer for when you want to apply ice to the soles of your feet, or you can keep small water bottles in the freezer to roll under your feet for an icy massage.

If you find that you are experiencing pain in your feet on a regular basis and you aren't able to get relief, then you should pay a visit to a podiatrist at a clinic like Allied Ankle & Foot Care Centers PC for help.
