How Foot Issues Can Affect Other Parts Of Your Body

Your feet help to carry your entire body from place to place, but it's most likely the one part of the body that gets the least amount of attention on your part. If you don't take care of your feet properly, it could cause an issue for your feet, and it can also begin to cause problems for other parts of your body as well. Read on for information on how your foot issues can affect other parts of your body.

Hips

The way you walk and the footwear you choose can cause an issue with your hips. If your experiencing pain in your feet, it may cause you to change your gait. When this happens, it may cause you to experience hip pain, as your hips may be thrown out of alignment. This can also occur depending on the type of footwear you wear. If your shoes aren't supportive enough, or if the heels are too high, you may change the way you walk as a way to compensate for your footwear. This can also lead to pain in your hips and legs as well. Wearing improper footwear can also lead to injuries such as plantar fasciitis, blisters, falling arches, bunions, or even a sprained ankle. Be sure you are wearing the right type of footwear that helps support and protect your feet. If your shoes cause you to change the way you walk, they aren't the right type of footwear for you.

Back

In addition to hip pain, a change in your gait can also lead to back pain as well. Your lower back may hurt, or even your upper back near your shoulders may begin to get sore if you are changing the way you walk to compensate for pain in your feet. If you are beginning to feel pain in your back, check out your footwear. Change the shoes you have been wearing and look for something with more support and that fit your feet better. If you aren't sure what type of shoes you should be wearing for your feet, visit your podiatrist for help.
